As a customer focused organisation our purpose is to provide business information services that underpin the critical management processes used across the collegiate University in research, teaching and administration.

We work strategically with Schools, Faculties, Departments, Colleges and other institutions, in planning and delivering the future Information Service requirements of the University, progressively improving business processes, capabilities and information solutions that meet business needs.

Message from Martin Bellamy, Director of Information Services

The new University Information Services (UIS) organisation formally came into existence on 31 March 2014, and incorporates the former University Computing Service, the Management Information Services Division and (since 1 August) the High Performance Computing Service.

An interim UIS leadership team has been formed to oversee ongoing delivery and the implementation of the joint report of the Council and General Board on IT infrastructure and support.

For the time being, most information can be found on the separate UIS websites that will continue to be operated for Computing Services and Management Information Services.

University Information Services location

Most UIS staff are based in the Roger Needham building on the West University site. Teaching classrooms and user areas, a service desk, a video conferencing suite and the Photography and Illustration Service remain on the New Museums site.


UIS welcomes feedback from across Cambridge on topics such as opportunities for future services, and how current offerings can be improved. Please email or comment on the forum site.
